Most Devastating Cyber Attacks
Today we going to see some of the most successful cyber attacks most of it was unknown and no one sees that coming.
Cyber attacks can be successful or can be extinguished from the very start but the irony is the attacks keep attacking and it can be in many forms and can come in from any direction.
MAFIABOY
Michael calce is a young boy studying in higher school done a DDOS attack unknowing to many firms. A 15 yr old boy unknowing put the well-known IP address in a tool he downloaded from the web and when he came back from the school his attacks are blasted all over the news.
DDOS is an attack that sends the malicious traffic to the websites which overload it and causing it no more functional for sometime Yahoo, buy.com, eBay, CNN, etc were affected.
CONFICKER
In 2008 this worm came into existence and exploited a number of windows operating systems and then connected all the computers and become a massive botnet which was a new concept at that time there is where the botnet came into existence.
JONATHAN JAMES
He is an American hacker who the first Juvenile incarcerated for cybercrime in the United States. he Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), a division of the United States Department of Defense, the primary function of which is to analyze potential threats to the United States of America, both at home and abroad. James later admitted to authorities that he had installed an unauthorized backdoor in a computer server in Dulles, Virginia, which he used to install a sniffer that allowed him to intercept over three thousand messages passing to and from DTRA employees, along with numerous usernames and passwords of other DTRA employees, including at least 10 on official military computers
MELISSA VIRUS
DAVID L. SMITH who discovered the Phishing attack. In an America Online chat room, SMITH posted a document that has credentials to serval websites but his true content was the MELISSA VIRUS. After that, the virus went globally affecting the email servers and several text saving companies MICROSOFT, INTEL, etc were forced to shut down email servers and MELISSA caused 8 million dollars damaged.
Thus hacker's say "SECURITY IS A MYTH" :)
